Strategy for Marginalized Urban Areas in Reșița

Finished

MKBT coordinated the development of a new strategy for the regeneration of marginalized urban areas in Reșița, which has been approved for funding from EU funds. As a result, GAL (Local Action Group) Reșița will receive a second allocation of European funds amounting to €5.6 million for integrated interventions in several urban poverty areas within the municipality: Dealul Crucii, Mociur, the degraded public housing units at Moara Juracek and Traian Lalescu, the former mining colony of Secu, and the informal settlement of Câlnic.

The process of developing the strategy involved: field visits, consultations with the local community and institutional representatives, collecting and processing information and documents about the situation of urban poverty in the city, and working closely with the GAL team and experts involved in developing the baseline study and mobilizing the local community.

The strategy for the programming period 2024-2030 will allow for the allocation of funds to complete the modernization of the social housing block in Mociur, support for families receiving housing assistance, afterschool programs with hot meals to prevent early school dropout among children from areas with urban poverty, as well as integrated social services, particularly for children and the elderly.

This strategy continues the interventions initiated based on the previous strategy, developed in 2017, also under the coordination of MKBT, which was successfully submitted for funding of €7 million.

Funding: European funds accessed by GAL Reșița through the Social Inclusion and Dignity Program, Priority P01 “Community-Led Local Development.”
