Strengthening Reindustrialization Efforts through Investment Readiness and Community Engagement

In progress

MKBT and its partners in the ReInd-BBG project have been actively driving efforts to foster regional development through reindustrialization. Recently, we conducted two impactful trainings to enhance investment readiness and strengthen community engagement within the project. Both sessions are part of the much bigger project, Reindustrialisation Following the Brownfield is Better than Greenfield Principle ReInd-BBG.

Here’s a closer look at these milestones:

📅 Date: November 19, 2024
Organized by: Vojvodina Development Agency (RAV), Serbia and MKBT, Romania

On November 19th, partners gathered for the “Understanding Investment Readiness” training, aimed at equipping participants with an investor’s perspective on reindustrialization projects. The session provided actionable insights into assessing investment opportunities for brownfield sites and outlined strategies for attracting investments on both regional and local scales.

Our colleague Marina led the training, sharing valuable strategies to enhance the appeal of reindustrialization initiatives, drawing from the successful approach of Reșița Municipality and highlighting how targeted efforts can attract investment and drive development. This session showed the importance of aligning local development projects with investor expectations, ensuring that reindustrialization efforts meet the practical and financial criteria sought by potential backers.

📅 Date: December 3, 2024
Organized by: the Regional Development Agency Bačka and MKBT, Romania

The ReInd-BBG project’s 10th partner meeting convened on December 3rd, marking another critical step in the project’s progress. Led by Ms. Tanja Faganel from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, the meeting provided an overview of activities from the second project period, outlined completion plans, and discussed upcoming reporting requirements.

Community Engagement Kit Training

A highlight of the meeting was the Community Engagement Kit training, co-hosted by MKBT, with our colleague Ana’s lead, and the Regional Development Agency Bačka. This session introduced methods and tools to engage stakeholders effectively, ensuring comprehensive participation throughout the project lifecycle. The training covered key methods and tools for community engagement, including: social media campaigns, community newsletters, temporary activation events, pop-up engagement activities, visitor centers, stakeholder mapping, interviews, focus groups and roundtables, participatory ideation exercises/workshops, multiple feedback channels, etc.

Through these trainings, the ReInd-BBG project partners have gained crucial tools to drive investment and community engagement, reinforcing their commitment to sustainable reindustrialization. By focusing on both investor readiness and active community participation, we are paving the way for impactful, inclusive development across regions.
